When you find a motel on your trip, it helps to pay for your stay with a credit card. The reason is simple. If the motel won't honor your reservation, you can protest the charge on your card. If they give you a room adjacent to the bar and place is so noisy you can't get any sleep, demand a refund and protest the charge on your credit card if they won't refund your money.
